because -5y and a positive Y combine to a -4y

Combining like terms for this problem would be split into two.

Since there are only two variables.

a and y

3a can only go into 6a, for that part would be 9a

y can only go into 5y, for that part being -4y

So our final equation would be

-4y + 9a
