Music fractions are kinda like math.

In 4/4 time a quarter note (indicated by the denominator of 4) gets one beat

In 6/4, the numerator indicates 6 beats per bar

In the unusual 4/8 time, the denominator of 8 indicates an eighth note gets one beat
