we need to isolate x, so we subtract 12 from both sides

then we get: x/3=6

so now we need to get x alone, so we would multiply each side my 3

now we would get x=18!

answer:
x = 18

work:

(1)/(3)x + 12 = 18 | subtract 12 on both sides, and solve.

(1)/(3)x = 6 | divide by
(1)/(3) on both sides, and solve.

x = 18 | final answer.

hope this helps! ❤ from peachimin
