f(x) \rightarrow -\infty \ as \ x \rightarrow \infty \ and \ f(x) \rightarrow 0 \ as \ x \rightarrow -\infty


This is true because of the graph. As you can see, if x increases without bound, then f(x) take values from the straight line but those values become more and more negative. On the other hand, if x gets more and more negative, then f(x) approaches zero.
