She will need 51

3.4 multiple by 6 for the sq feet then multiple by 3.4 which gives

24.4 sq feet divided by .4 is 51

Answer:

180 tiles.

Explanation:

We have been given that Vanessa wants to cover her closet floor with tile’s that are 1/3 feet on each side the closet is 3 1/3 feet wide on a 6 foot deep.

To find the number of tiles needed to cover the closet floor, we will divide area of closet floor by area of each tile as:

\text{Area of closet floor}=3(1)/(3)\text{ feet}* 6\text{ feet}

\text{Area of closet floor}=(10)/(3)\text{ feet}* 6\text{ feet}

\text{Area of closet floor}=10\text{ feet}* 2\text{ feet}

\text{Area of closet floor}=20\text{ feet}^2

\text{Area of each tile}=(1)/(3)\text{ feet}* (1)/(3)\text{ feet}

\text{Area of each tile}=(1)/(9)\text{ feet}^2

\text{Tiles needed to cover the closet floor}=20\text{ feet}^2/ (1)/(9)\text{ feet}^2

Convert into division problem by flipping the fraction:

\text{Tiles needed to cover the closet floor}=20*(9)/(1)

\text{Tiles needed to cover the closet floor}=180

Therefore, Vanessa needs 180 tiles to cover the closet floor.
