Why were radio comedies so popular during the 1930s

The 1930's were the golden age, more than 12 million people owned radios. They provided entertainment and became cheaper. It provoked more singers.

Probably because televisions were extremely expensive back then and only rich people had them. Most people had radios to keep up with the news and other things on radios. The were popular because that was the form of entertainment most people could afford and enjoy.
