There are quite a few requirements for SDSs or MSDSs as the old name. Some include the chemical make up, such as pH etc. Next is ingredients, storage requirements, hazardous material numbers or nonhazardous specifications. Correct colors of the product and on some DOT Placards. That is only a few, some SDSs can be 30+ pages but those are the basics for a chemical SDS.

The Hazard Communication Standard revised in 2012, requires that the chemical manufacturer, distributor, or importer provide Safety Data for each hazardous chemical to downstream users to communicate information on these hazards.
