hi I need help. history is my least favorite subject so help pls. I'm doing a project about ww1 (the battle of the somme to be specific) and I just don't get it like the war was 4 years but does that mean they were fighting for 4 years straight or what. like that's impossible cuz they had to rest and eat and sleep? I mean like was there a time we're they would both just like stop and take a break or what? I'm so confused cuz what if one side attacks I mean like how do they know when to stop cuz there's no way its a 5 month battle straight no breaks no rest

Answer:

they did have breaks

Step-by-step explanation:

the war lasted that time but they did have breaks. It wasn't 4 years straight. It was 4 years, and some breaks for food or sleep.
