To find how many pounds of apples kai can buy first you have to subtract 40 and 14 you have to subtract 40 and 14 because Kai brought $40 to spend on his groceries 14 because he spends it for his ham. so 40-14 is $26. so for me to find how much pounds of apples I could buy started off with 5 so I did 2.50 * 5 which would be 12.50 so that's not the answer so next day did 2.50 * 10 which equals $25 so with tax he could probably spend $26 since tax is not in the question $25 would be your answer 10 pounds of apples.

Hope this helps!!
