Kai has $40 to spend on groceries.He buys a ham for $14 and then wants to pick up apples for $2.50 per pound. How many pounds of apples can he buy and stay within budget?

To find how many pounds of apples kai can buy first you have to subtract 40 and 14 you have to subtract 40 and 14 because Kai brought $40 to spend on his groceries 14 because he spends it for his ham. so 40-14 is $26. so for me to find how much pounds of apples I could buy started off with 5 so I did 2.50 * 5 which would be 12.50 so that's not the answer so next day did 2.50 * 10 which equals $25 so with tax he could probably spend $26 since tax is not in the question $25 would be your answer 10 pounds of apples.
