A potter works 4 days a week, makes 14 pots per day on average, and charges $24 a pot. If she lowers her price to $16 a pot, by how many pots per day on average must she increase her production to make the same amount of money per 4-day workweek?

Answer:

7 pots per day.

Explanation:

A potter works 4 days a week, makes 14 pots per day and charges $24 a pot.

She earns =

4 (days) × 14 (pots) × 24 (charge) = $1,344

Now we have to find out number of pots production per day to make the same amount in a week, if she lowers her price to $16.

Let the number of pots now be x

Therefore,

$1,344 = (4) (x) (16)

1,344 = 64x

x = 1,344 ÷ 64

x = 21 pots per day

She already makes 14 pots. so the increment of the making pots would be

21 - 14 = 7 pots.

She must increase her production of 7 pots per day to make the same amount.
