Read the excerpt below from The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian by Sherman Alexie and answer the question that follows. I haven’t had a seizure in seven years, but the doctors tell me that I am “susceptible to seizure activity.” Isn’t that one of the worst phrases you’ve ever heard? Susceptible to seizure activity. Doesn’t that just roll off the tongue like poetry? I also had a stutter and a lisp. Or maybe I should say I had a st-st-st-st-stutter and a lissssssssththththp. Which character trait does the characterization from the passage above reveal about Arnold? sensitive self-deprecating cynical compliant

The answer is self-deprecating.

One of the definitions of a self-deprecating person is someone who is conscious of his or her weaknesses, difficulties and flaws and is open about it, or at least, isn't afraid to point them out, which they normally do in a humorous way.

In the passage, the speaker recognizes and expresses his shortcomings (to be susceptible to seizure activity, for example) in a humorous tone.
