How to solve -3(a+1)+6?

Simplify. Distribute -3 to all term within the parenthesis

-3(a + 1) = -3a - 3

-3a - 3 + 6

Simplify. Combine like terms

-3 + 6 = 3

-3a + 3 is your answer
