Firstly, distribute c to (x - d):

ax-bx=cx-cd

Next, subtract cx on both sides:

ax-bx-cx=-cd

Next, factor out x on the left side:

x(a-b-c)=-cd

Lastly, divide both sides by (a - b - c) and your answer will be:

x=-(cd)/(a-b-c)
