Before the arrival of patient all these equipments should be prepared for efficient dental operatory:

DENTAL INSTRUMENT WASHERS : are a highly efficient way to wash clinical instruments before sterilization. These systems clean and remove debris from instruments using hot water and specialized surfactant solutions to ensure the instruments do not retain any material that might interfere with the effectiveness of sterilization.

DENTAL STERILIZATION EQUIPMENTS: these mainly includes autoclaves and sterilizers. These instruments use steam at temperatures upto 270° F to kill adherent microbes on the equipments which could be responsible for infection.

DENTAL DELIVERY SYSTEM: this system provides a base for keeping all the necessary equipments required for conducting operations. It includes accessories like handpieces, fiber optic system etc.

DENTAL DRIILS/ DENTAL HAND PIECES: these are electronic instruments that are used for cutting and polishing of teeths. These are the rotatory instruments which requires sterilization before applied for treatment. So, before conducting dental operations these should be sterilized.

DENTAL UTILITY EQUIPMENTS: these equipments provides air pressure, water and suction for facilitating the working of handpieces and other necessary equipments.

Example of endodontic equipments includes dental pulp testers which gives idea about the pulp health through sensibility tests, apex locators which measures the length of the root canal, obturation provides continuous flow of filing materials.

DENTAL OPERATION LIGHTS: these dental lights are powered by either halogen or LED technology and are adjustable to the needs of the dentist. When choosing a light for your operatory, one should ensure it works with the delivery system. Different lights have different color temperatures and lux (light intensity ratings), required for execution of a particular operation.

OXYGEN DELIVERY SYSTEMS: for the administration of oxygen accessories like supplemental oxygen delivery device, nasal cannulae, nonrebreathing mask with oxygen reserviour, nasal hood, a portable oxygen cylinder with a regulator, bag-valve mask device with oxygen reservior, forceps, oropharangeal airways should be available.

DRUGS: local and general anesthesia, nitrous oxides, intravenous sedations are used in dental operations to control pain. Other commonly used pain relievers include anti- inflammatory drugs, acetoaminophen or tylenol, anesthetics and topical analgesics.

A suitable drug preparation should be available keeping in mind the age and health of the patient.

DENTAL INTRAORAL CAMERA: these are designed to capture and display images inside the patient's mouth. These cameras can be connected to computer and televisions with the help of USB cables. The intraoral camera should be small in shape as well as in size so that it can be inserted easily in patient's mouth.
