you first have to find x. you know that a right angle is 90 degrees, so the equation is CBD + ABD = 90 degrees, or basically (3x+22)+(5x-17)= 90 degrees.

(3x+22)+(5x-17)= 90

8x + 5 = 90

8x = 85

x = 10.625

now you can plug the 10.625 in place of x to find each angle:

ABD = (3x+22)

ABD = (3(10.625)+22)

ABD = 53.875 degrees

Now you can do CBD following the same methind:

CBD = (5x-17)

CBD = (5(10.625)-17)

CBD = 36.125 degrees

To make sure its correct just add CBD and ABD together:

53.875 + 36.125 = 90

And that's how you get it! Hope this helps!

setting the equation:
77 = 3x + 22 + 5x - 17

combine like terms:
77 = 8x + 5

subtract constants
77 - 5 = 72

72 = 8x

divide 72 by 8
x = 9

plug in the value of x (9 in this case) into the equations of each separate angle to find the value of the individual angles.
