now we can write this as x-(-14) = 50

as we knw the rule, - and - becomes +

therefore : x + 14 = 50 ,

now we need to bring 14 to the right , while doing so , 14 becomes -14 as its positive in the left side . if we bring it to the right side it becomes -(negative )

so, x = 50 - 14

x = 36

Hi Brantaldonboyd,

Question:

50 = x - (-14) what is x?

Solution:

50 = x + 14

x + 14 = 50

x + 14 − 14 = 50 − 14
