Hi,

Let's solve for x.

y= 3 /8 (x+4)

Step 1: Flip the equation.

3/8x +3/2 =y

Step 2: Add (-3)/2 to both sides.

3/8x + 3/2+ −3/2 =y+ −3/2 3/8 x = y+ −3/2

Step 3: Divide both sides by 3/8.

3/8x / 3/8 = y+ −3/2/3/8

x= 8y−12/3

Answer:

x= 8y−12/3

Have a great day!

(3)/(8)(x+4)=y\ \ \ \ |\text{multiply both sides by 8}\\\\3(x+4)=8y\ \ \ \ |\text{use distributive property}\\\\(3)(x)+(3)(4)=8y\\\\3x+12=8y\ \ \ \ |\text{substract 12 from both sides}\\\\3x=8y-12\ \ \ \ |\text{divide both sides by 3}\\\\\boxed{x=(8y-12)/(3)\to y=(8)/(3)y-4}
