2x+y=-4
-3y=2x+12

Let

2x+y=-4——(1)

-3y=2x+12

2x+3y=-12—-(2)

Deduct eqt 1 from 2

(2x+3y=-12)

-(2x+y=-4)

2y=-8

y=-4

Put y=-4 into eqt 1

2x-4=-8

2x=-8+4

2x=-4

Divide both sides by 2

x=-2

:. x,y= -2,-4
