PEMDAS is used for these kinds of problems so that you know what step to start with first.

P = Parentheses first

E = Exponents

M = Multiplication

D = Division

A = Addition

S = Subtraction

First Example:

Using the PEMDAS rule let's start with multiplication then divide then add.

7+54/3(2) = 7+54/6=7+9=16

Second Example:

Using the PEMDAS rule let's start with Exponents then multiplication then addition then subtraction.

24-4^2*3+15=24-16*3+15=24-48+15=24-63=-39

Hope this helps!
