The Reformation promoted individualism by encouraging people to make their own religious judgements. Protestants began to establish new churches.

During the Reformation, people were encouraged to question the traditional dogmas of the Catholic Church. Protestant churches claimed that the Church had been corrupted by the private interests of its people, and therefore, encouraged Christians to listen to their inner conscience and their own morality. This focus on personal beliefs promoted the idea of individualism, which led to a significant change of culture in countries with a significant Protestant population.
