The psychologist is using a qualitative research method. He is gathering information but not in numeric form (the traditional quantitative approach in science), in order to analyze it using a naturalistic or interpretative approach. Facts are observed in the field or in its natural conditions , with the aim of capturing human experience in all its extent. This qualitative phenomenological approach is called Humanism and focuses on the uniqueness of each individual, his/her social or cultural background, life story, etc.
