Linda used a number line to simplify an expression. Which expression did Linda simplify based on the number line?

A. -9+1
B. -1-9
C. -1+(-8)

The expression simplified by Linda is (C) -1 + (-8)

From the number line ;

The first arrow starts at 0 and takes one step to the left , giving a value of -1

The second starts from where the first ended and takes 8 steps to the left giving a value of -8

since, they are both headed in the same direction, we use the "+" operator .

Hence, we have : -1 + (-8)
