Solve:

5(20-x)=1/2(4x+4)

Distribute 5 to 20 and -x, and 1/2 to 4x and 4

5(20) = 100

5(-x) = -5x

4x/2 = 2x

4/2 = 2

Simplify

-5x + 100 = 2x + 2

Isolate the x. Subtract 2x from both sides, and 100 from both sides

-5x (-2x) + 100 (-100) = 2x (-2x) + 2 (-100)

-5x - 2x = 2 - 100

Simplify

-7x = -98

Isolate the x. Divide -7 from both sides

-7x/-7 = -98/-7

x = -98/-7

x = 14

14 is your answer for x

hope this helps
