If she wants to give each student a cupcake, the amount of cupcakes she will need is 25.

To find out how many packages is needed, we can divide the amount of cupcakes needed by the number of cupcakes in a package:

25÷6
=4.16...

Or by long division, you will get 4...1 .

We can see that the number is not divisible, which means 4 is the closest number, but it cannot satisfy the need of giving each student a cupcake.

If long division is used, you can find that if she buy 4 packages(4×6=24), a student would not get the cupcake.

In this case,we have to add 1 package to the answer, in order to have sufficient amount of cupcakes for each students.

Therefore, the total amount of packages needed is 4+1=5.

The answer is 5 packages.

Hope it helps!
