So for this expression, remember PEMDAS

  • Parentheses
  • Exponents
  • Multiplication and Division
  • Addition and Subtraction

Firstly, start with solving inside the parentheses:
2^3-6+9

Next, solve the exponent:
8-6+9

Now that we only have addition and subtraction, solve it from left to right to get your answer:

8-6+9 \\ 2+9 \\ 11

Your answer is 11.

Solving your equation

2^3 -( (30)/(5))+ 9 \\ \\ 2^3 = 8\\ \\ 8 - (30)/(5) + 9\\ \\(30)/(5) = 6 \\ \\ 8 - 6 + 9 \\ \\ 8-6 = 2 \\ \\ 2 + 9 = 11 \\ \\ \\ \\ \\ Answer: 11
