Answer: Permineralization is when minerals from water ground enter the pores of dead plant or animal minerals. Overtime the minerals attach them selves clean onto cellular walls and building crystalline network in empty cavities. This mineralization hardens the bone and turns it into stone making it the fossils original structure but in fossil form.

Process. Permineralization is a type of fossilization involving deposits of minerals within the cells of organisms. Water from the ground, lakes, or oceans seeps into the pores of organic tissue and forms a crystal cast with deposited minerals. Crystals begin to form in the porous cell walls.
