Answer: After 15 years i.e. in 2005, there would 1706 people in the village.

Explanation:

Since we have given that

y = 110x+56

Here, x is the number of years since 1990.

If the number of population = 1706

According to question, we get that

1706 = 110x + 56

1706-56 = 110x

1650 = 110x

x = 1650 ÷ 110

x = 15

Hence, after 15 years i.e. 1990+ 15 = 2005, there would 1706 people in the village.

In this question, it is given that

The population of a particular village can be modeled by the equation

y=110x+56

where x is the number of years since 1990.

And we have to find in what year were there 1706 people living in the village?

So we put 1706 for y and solve for x. That is

1706=110x+56

Subtracting 56 from both sides.

1706-56 = 110x \\ 1650 = 110x \\ x = 1650/110 \\ x= 15

And 1990 +15=2005

Therefore in 2005, there were 1706 people living in the village
