2 4/5 - 2/3

To subtract the fractions, make the fractions have common denominators.

Multiply 4/5 by 3/3 and multiply 2/3 by 5/5.

  • 4/5 * 3/3 = 12/15
  • 2/3 * 5/5 = 10/15

Rewrite the expression with the fractions as common denominators.

2 12/15 - 10/15

Subtract the fractions; subtract the numerators and keep the same denominators.

2 2/15 is your answer.
