Ok, I began by starting with $98 subtracting the $64 for the skateboard. Then subtract stationary.

$98.00 - $64.00= $34.00

$34.00- $10.85= $23.15

we know each cookie is $1.65 so we divide $23.15 by $1.65 = 14.03030303 cookies

So you can safely buy 14 cookies

14 cookies

Shirley has $98 in all

She bought a stationary, and wants to buy a skateboard

98 - (64 + 10.85) = 23.15

She has $23.15 left. Divide by 1.65

23.15/1.65 = 14.03 (rounded)

She can buy ~14 cookies

hope this helps
