Jeff divided his 1,200 stamps equally among 7 stamp albums. If the division of 1,200 by 7 was exact, there won't be any stamp left over. Let's test it.

1,200/7 is 171.4, obviously is not exact, thus There were stamps left over.

How many?

Multiply the lower integer of division 171 by 7 to get: 171*7 =1,197. This means that 1,200-1,197= 3 stamps were left over
