...So basically, he appealed to the masses by both is casual writing style as well as playing to ideas that protestants (whose main differentation from the Roman Catholic or Anglican(British) churches was that God is accessible to the masses instead of just through authority (like church or crown)...This means if the average person has direct access to god, it makes religion more of a democracy (hense all the denomonations of protestantism).
