The weights of the watermelons in a local grocery store is normally distributed. The mean weight is 18 pounds with a standard deviation of 1.5 pounds. How much do the middle 95% of the watermelons weigh?
Between 15 and 21 pounds
Between 16.5 and 19.5 pounds
Between 13.5 and 22.5 pounds
Between 17.1 and 18.9 pounds

Since it's normally distributed, we can apply the emperical rule. The middle 95% will be within two standard deviations of the mean, so that means:

18-2(1.5), 18+2(1.5)=15,21

So we want the first option.
