Proprietary colonies
Proprietary colonies are the land grants in the form of the charter to individuals’ or a group. During British rule, it is important to appoint the governor who is the official head of colonial administration to oversee the colonies. Colonial governors act as chief law enforcement officer. The land was titled in the name of proprietor and proprietor have the liberty to make laws, pardon offenders and can establish church, ports, and towns.
