Many former slaves after the civil war in America, left the rural areas to live in the cities and towns. During Reconstruction, they (slaves) shared all the facilities provided to the whites, such as eating in the same restaurant, sharing the same car in rails. Soon, White took this liberty of Blacks ( African- Americans) as a threat to their own freedom. These new communities could not be controlled by the White Southerners as before. Blacks were earlier, dependent on the whites for work but now they were free to compete with white Southerners. This situation, however, led the Whites to feel a need to gain more control over these new cities of Blacks. Therefore Jim Crow Laws were passed to restrict the freedom of these African- Americans. This law basically prohibited the sharing between the Whites and the Blacks.
