PLEASE HELP! 11 pts.

The map shows the location of the airport and a warehouse in a city. Though not displayed on the map, there is also a factory 112 miles due north of the warehouse.  A truck traveled from the warehouse to the airport and then to the factory. What is the total number of miles the truck traveled? 112 154 224 252

The factory is 112 miles North of the warehouse. North and South is the Y axis.

The warehouse is located at Y -56, add 112 to that and Y = positive 56, so the factory is located at Y = 56.

Using the distance formula we can find the distance between the warehouse and the airport:

Distance = SQRT( (x2-x1)^2 + (Y2-y1)^2)

Ware house X = 42, Y = -56

Airport X = -42, Y = 56

Distance = SQRT (( -42 - 42)^2 + (56 - -56)^2) = 140 miles

The factory is on X 42, Y 56, which is the same Y value as the airport, so the distance between the airport and the factory is the change in X

-42 to 0 = 42 and 0 to 42 = 42, 42+ 42 = 84 miles.

Total distance = 140 + 84 = 224 miles.

hey user!!!

first, we will find the distance between airport and origin then we will double it and we'll get the distance between airport and warehouse.

by Pythagoras theorem :-

let base be = 42 ( as given on abscissa )

and perpendicular be = 56 ( as given on ordinate )

hypotenuse is the distance between the airport and the origin.

therefore h² = 42² + 56²

=> h² = 1764 + 3136

=> h² = 4900

=> h = √4900

=> h = 70

hence, distance between airport and warehouse = 70 × 2 = 140 miles

now, it's given that the factory is 112 miles away from the warehouse in North.

hence, total distance travelled by the truck = 140 + 112

= 252 miles

correct option is 252 miles.

cheers!!!
