In this problem, two binomials are being multiplied.

First, you see the First terms multiplied together, x^2 and -5x^2.

Then you see the Outside terms multiplied together, x^2 and x.

Next, you see the Inside terms multiplied together, -2 and -5x^2.

Finally, the Last terms are multiplied together, -2 and x.

Put together the bold letters above and you spell FOIL.

FOIL is a way to remember how to multiply two binomials.

F - multiply the First terms.

O - multiply the Outside terms.

I - multiply the Inside terms.

L - multiply the Last terms.

In general, to multiply to binomials

(a + b)(c + d) =

F: ac

O: ad

I: bc

L: bd

= ac + ad + bc + bd

Answer: Choice A. FOIL
