In this problem, we will be comparing the values 4 inches and 3 feet. Before we forget, the first step is to convert the 3 feet into inches. Knowing that there are 12 inches in a foot, 3 feet is equal to 36 inches. Now we can divide the two quantities. 4 divided by 36 is 9, so the ratio between the width of the photo to the width of the poster is
B., 1:9.

Hello!
1 ft = 12 inches
3 ft = 12 × 3 inches
12 × 3 = 36 inches
The original photo has a width of 4 in. The enlarged poster has a width of 36 in
Width of Photo to Width of Poster ⇒ 4:36
Your answer is the 2nd choice, which is 1:9
