To solve, we subtract 20x from both sides and subtract 600 from both sides:

Then, we simplify by dividing both sides by 10:

Thomas and Ken have to work 20 weeks for their earnings to be the same

Answer:

20 weeks and
\$1200

Explanation:

Let us suppose their earning will be same in
x

so basis the given information,

800 + 20x = 600 + 30x

800 - 600 = 30x - 20x

200 = 10x

x = 20

∴ earnings of Thomas and Ken will be same in
20 weeks

Amount for Thomas and Ken will be-

800 + 20(20) = 600 + 30(20)\\800 + 400 = 600 + 600 = 1200

Their earning will be
\$1200
