The underground railroad was a secret network set up by those who wanted to help people and families escape slavery and gain freedom. It played a crucial role in the abolition of slavery in the United States. This was in use prior to the Civil War. Hundreds of slaves are freed thanks to conductors like Harriet Tubman. There were a variety of routes to the underground railroads, including Line Station, Freight in the Underground RailRoad, and others.
