Water flows back and forth between a small and large tank. When water is moving into a tank the flow rate is positive, and when water is moving from a tank the flow rate is negative. Answer:

The required integer is 100.

Explanation:

Given,

The original quantity of water in the large tank = 250 gallons,

Also, the flow rate for the large tank is recorded as -6 gallons per minute,

∵ when water is moving from a tank the flow rate is negative,

Thus, the water is moving from the tank by the rate of 6 gallons per minutes,

Now, the quantity of water flown from the tank after 25 minutes = rate of flowing per minute × 25

= 6 × 25

= 150 gallons,

Hemce, the remaining water in the tank after 25 minutes = original quantity of water in the tank - quantity flown from tank

= 250 - 150

= 100 gallons
