The statement that is incorrect about anaerobic respiration is it consumes a small amount of oxygen.

It must be noted that anaerobic respiration is a type of respiration that DOES NOT USE OXYGEN. It is alternately used when there is not enough oxygen for aerobic respiration. This can be summarized by the equation: glucose---> lactic acid (+energy released).
Some examples of anaerobic respiration are alcohol fermentation, lactic acid fermentation and in the decomposition of organic matter. The equation would be: glucose + enzymes= carbon dioxide + ethanol/ lactic acid.
