The statement is true.

The behavior and personality of children of alcoholics has been studied in psychology, to understand how it is affected by the addictive behavior of the parents. It has been found that teenage children of alcoholics present dysfunctional social skills; they have a hard time socializing with peers and tend to isolate themselves, they have low self esteem and are very self-conscious. They can display excessive perfectionism, as this provides the sense of control and stability they lack of at home.

True

Alcohol use problems among parents can have damaging effects of teenage children’s development of social skills and mental health. When a parent abuses alcohol, the children are unlikely to receive the care they need which may result in dysfunctional behaviors such as isolation ans excessive self-consciousness.
