You want to know how many times 1/2 goes into 1 and 1/4? here you go!
So first we find out how many times 1/2 fits in the number 1, we convert 1 into 2/2, and then we can see 1/2 fits 2 times on 2/2.
As for 1/4, it's more tricky, but we convert 1/2 into 2/4, and then we see, we can fit 1/2 of 1/2 into 1/4.
