1. I believe that the development of written language within a culture affects our understanding of culture’s art because it allows for more freedom in terms of communication. In a time without writing, people would have to spend their time and image on creating rules for language as well as signs, symbols and images that represented certain ideas or concepts. However once writing was developed, people were able to focus on creating more complex artworks.
2. The relationship between art and the development of communication interlinks twofold: on one hand, by growing a child's communication skills by teaching them how to paint or draw at home, the child can then be more communicative with you. On the other hand, if a child had trouble communicating things to you through words, art therapy may be a great way to help that child tell their story through their artistic talents.
