Celeste wants to have her hair cut and permed and also go to lunch. She knows she will need $68. The perm costs twice as much as her haircut and she needs $5 for lunch.

Okay!

1. Take the $68 and subtract $5 from it for lunch

68
- 5
_____

63

2. Take your $63 and divide by 3.

(we are dividing by 3 because we know that she wants a haircut and a perm, but a perm costs twice(2) as much wich means we need to find how much one haircut is.)

3 divided by 3 = 21

3. Now you have a 21.

$21 = 1 haircut

21+21= $42 =1 perm (because the perm is twice the cost of the hair cut)

4. Add all together to make sure you have your numbers right!

$21(haircut)+$42(perm)+$5(lunch)= $68

Hope this helped!
