The answer is false. The minimum velocity which will allow a body of space to escape the gravitational influence is called the escape velocity. For earth, the escape velocity is 40,000 km per hour which is roughly 7 miles per second. To maintain orbit is different it is called orbital velocity which is 28,000 km per hour.
