The country was Czechoslovakia. At around 11:00 in the evening of August 20, 1968, Soviet forces, together with troops from Hungary, Poland, East Germany and Bulgaria captured Czechoslovakia and took over Prague and other leading cities within a few hours. By the end of August it was estimated that over 600,000 troops, mostly Soviets, were in Czechoslovakia.
