The possibility of America joining the League of Nations has caused several problems, especially between politicians like Woodrow Wilson and Henry Cabot Lodge.
President Wilson was the man who created this idea in the first place. His hope was to create an organization of countries from all over the world that would focus on maintaining world peace. Wilson hoped that this League of Nations would help to prevent wars in the future.
On the other hand, Henry Cabot Lodge felt that this League of Nations was not good idea. Lodge worried about America getting involved in conflicts that they did not need to be included in. Along with this, Lodge was concerned with America possibly losing trading partners due to their affiliation with this League of Nations.
Ultimately, the US Congress decides not to join the League of Nations.
