If a 4 x 16 rectangle has the same area as a square, what is the length of a side of the square?

Well, 4*16 is 64, so the rectangle and the square have an area of 64. We know that all sides of a square are equal, so they have to be the same number. Well, 8*8 is 64, right? So the length of each side of the square has to be 8 units. Hope this helped!

4 times 16 = 64. If the square has the same volume as 64, you find the square root of 64.


√(64) = 8

8 is the length of the side of the square.
